 Our youth mentoring programs fill a critical gap by connecting young people with aspirational, caring mentors who can instill positive values and demonstrate leadership qualities, helping our youth grow into productive and responsible adults. Our proven model embodies over six years of applied innovative mentoring approaches in the Greater Cincinnati area, serving young people grades 3-12 and others striving to better themselves. FGLA will provide professionally trained, mentors & facilitators to deliver our group mentoring sessions that hold 20-40 students in a classroom setting that occurs twice a week for 1-2 hours within a local elementary, high school, and/or a community center during classroom and after-school hours complementing the work of teachers, guidance counselors, & social workers.

Leadership Development

We believe that a keen focus on leadership skill development for youth is integral for a better future and we are devoted to uplifting young people by preparing them to meet the challenges of life . Through one-on-one and group  interactions with an experienced mentors and facilitators; students will receive support as they work towards achieving their leadership development goals in terms of practical advice and guidance, as well as support in identifying their pathways.

Students will be able to give empathy and support, keep communication open, and challenge one another. 

Students will learn how to deal with unexpected situations and see them as opportunities to learn.

Students will be able think deeply about things and figure out better ways to execute their tasks.

Career Exploration

Our career exploration workshops are specifically focused on preparing  students for their career. We focus on discovering one's future, workplace professionalism, leadership in business, resume crafting, professional communication skills, creating personal brands, interview best practices, and how to stand out from the competition.

BUDDIES NOT BULLIES WORKSHOPS

These interactive 1-2 hour workshop engages students in exploring the harms of name-calling, signs, & types of bullying. Students will identify the unique features of bullying. We will execute the following by Defining Bullying, Student bully proof affirmations, Team building activities, & Roleplay scenarios that foster a culture of safety among the students.The overall goal of this workshop is to promote respect and inclusion as part of a broader strategy to create a safer school for all students.

The program will:
  • Increase understanding and awareness about the problem of bullying.
  • Educate and empower students to effectively discuss and respond to their experiences with bullying.
  • Provide students with the tools and skills needed to educate them on the roles that bullies, bystanders, lookouts, and others may play.
  • To be aware of common misconceptions regarding bullies.
  • Identifying different types of bullying behavior.
  • Recognize and identify incidents of bullying and identify its various types, styles, and forms.
  • Characteristics of bullies and victims.
  • The consequences of bullying.
